Can I get an opinion without an appointment?

Absolutely! Just go to coreilortho.com and click Virtual Appointment. By providing photos to Dr. Coreil, we can answer many of the basic questions patients have about their condition.

Do I need a referral from a dentist to make an appointment with Dr. Coreil?

Although we welcome referrals you do not need one to be a patient in our office.

Can I call Dr. Coreil anytime?

Absolutely. Every patient has Dr. Coreil’s cell phone number and can reach him with questions or concerns.

 

Dr. Coreil is available on nights and weekends for any questions you may have regarding your treatment or retainers.

I live far away but want to come to Coreil Orthodontics, is this possible?

We have patients living, working or going to school as far as Monroe and New Orleans. Using our Virtual Appointment tool we can make you feel like you are next door.

What can I expect from the initial consultation?

Every patient will receive a CT scan of teeth, jaws and airway allowing Dr. Coreil vividly demonstrate problems and treatment options. Our patients also appreciate our use of videos to demonstrate why treatment is needed as well as how the treatment will be accomplished.

What is a Virtual Appointment?

Whether you are a new patient or a current patient we can evaluate your status by simply taking a few photos of your teeth and face with a smartphone and Dr. Coreil normally responds to you within minutes from his iPhone. Our patients love the fast response.

Why should I choose a specialist?

Dr. Coreil has over 30 years of experience allowing him to take the best care of your needs.

How frequent are appointments?

In office appointments range from 6-8 weeks however we can also use Virtual Appointments so that your in office appointments can be as infrequent as every 4 months.

Questions About Expanders

When are expanders used?

Palatal expanders are used to change the position of upper jaw bones thus providing improved function and additional space for permanent teeth.

What is the best time to have an expander?

We like completing expansion before age 9 for the best results and overall patient comfort.

Can I have an expander as an adult?
Yes. We expand many adults often with the support of an in office surgical procedure.
 
When should a child see an orthodontist?

We recommend an orthodontic screening at 5 years of age to evaluate dental development and the facial growth pattern.

Does my child have to miss school for appointments?

No. We can utilize breaks for longer appointments normally completed in the morning. We will work with you to satisfy both patient and parent.

Does my child need braces a second time if they had early treatment?

Most patients choose to undergo a second phase of orthodontic treatment once all permanent teeth are in place for the best results.

Do I have to stay with my child during the appointment?

No. We are in the middle of the best shopping in Lafayette allowing parents to take advantage of this valuable time to get things done.

Should my child see Dr. Coreil if they still have “baby teeth”?

Yes. This is a critical time for tooth and jaw development and patients benefit from early intervention.

Do I need a dentist while in braces?

Yes. It is imperative that all of our patients maintain excellent dental health during treatment.

What happens if my braces break?

No worries. We are available 7 days a week to care for your needs. Many patients send photos to Dr. Coreil and he guides them on how to fix the problem over the phone.

What foods can I eat with braces?
You will need to avoid hard foods but we allow patients to chew gum and provide a list of fun foods that they can eat while in treatment.
 
Am I too old to wear braces?
You are never too old. Dr. Coreil has treated a number of patients in their 70’s and 80’s so don’t worry about being late.
 
Can I have braces with missing teeth, crowns or implants?
Yes. We specialize in working with difficult cases and we can customize any plan for any patient.
 
 
How long will my orthodontic treatment last?

Treatment time can range from 3 months to 25 months depending on needs and patient desires.

Can I participate in my treatment planning?

We have a term Signature Smiles which means that our patients and parents are totally involved in planning the final smile. We do not use one approach to treatment but instead make your treatment individualized for you.

How much does treatment cost?

Cost will be determined by time in treatment. Working with you we can make treatment affordable with in house financing and tailoring your treatment to your specific needs.
